Article Processing Charge (APC)  and Publication Fees

PAJRI is committed to ensuring affordable and accessible publishing while maintaining high editorial and production standards. Authors are required to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) of $30 USD upon acceptance of their manuscript.

APC Payment Process:

• Once a manuscript is accepted for publication, the corresponding author must complete the APC payment within two (2) days to secure placement in the upcoming issue.
• The APC covers essential publication costs, including peer review management, editorial processing, and digital archiving.
• Failure to complete the payment within the stipulated timeframe may result in delays or removal from the issue.

APC Waivers and Discounts:

PAJRI may provide full or partial APC waivers or promotional discounts in accordance with published journal programmes and demonstrated financial need. Requests may be considered for authors in resource-limited settings, early-career researchers without institutional funding, or authors facing exceptional financial hardship. Where a waiver is requested on financial grounds, the request should preferably be made during submission. APC payment, waiver eligibility and an author's ability to pay do not influence editorial assessment, peer review or acceptance decisions.

DOI Assignment

• All articles accepted and published by PAJRI are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) as part of the publication process.
• DOI registration is included in the Article Processing Charge (APC) at no additional cost to the author.
• The DOI provides a permanent, citable identifier that supports persistent linking, citation and scholarly discovery.

Publication Ethics

Pan-African Journal of Research and Innovation (PAJRI) is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in scholarly publishing. We adhere to internationally recognized guidelines, including those set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers to ensure the integrity, transparency, and quality of published research.

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and credibility of scholarly publishing. They are responsible for ensuring that their research meets the highest ethical and academic standards. The following principles must be strictly adhered to when submitting a manuscript to Pan-African Journal of Research and Innovation (PAJRI):

1.1 Originality and Plagiarism

Originality is the foundation of academic research, and authors must ensure that their work contributes new knowledge or insights to their field.

Guidelines for Originality and Plagiarism:

• Ensuring Original Work:
  Authors must submit manuscripts that present entirely original research findings, analysis, or perspectives. The work should not have been published previously or under consideration elsewhere.
• Proper Citation of Sources:
  Any content, ideas, or data borrowed from existing literature, including direct quotes, paraphrases, tables, figures, or methodologies, must be properly cited in accordance with PAJRI citation requirements. APA 7th edition is the required citation style for all PAJRI journals except the Pan-African Journal of Research and Innovation in Law, Policy and Development, which uses OSCOLA-style legal citation. Failure to acknowledge sources constitutes plagiarism.
• Plagiarism in Any Form is Prohibited:
  Plagiarism includes the direct copying of text, ideas, or research findings without proper attribution. It also includes subtle forms such as:

• Self-plagiarism (recycling one’s own previously published work without citation).
• Image or Data Manipulation (misrepresenting or altering figures, tables, or research findings).
• Patchwriting (changing a few words of another author’s work while maintaining the original structure).

• Use of Plagiarism Detection Software:
  PAJRI employs plagiarism detection tools (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate) to verify manuscript originality. If plagiarism is detected, the manuscript will be rejected or retracted if already published.
• Consequences of Plagiarism:

• Manuscripts found to contain plagiarized content will be immediately rejected without review.
• If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the article will be formally retracted from the journal, and a notice of misconduct will be issued.
• Authors guilty of plagiarism may face bans on future submissions and may be reported to their institutions.

Call for Submissions
PAJRI invites authors to submit original research articles, review papers, and case studies that align with the journal’s aims and scope. Every submission undergoes an initial editorial assessment to determine its suitability before being sent for peer review. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s standards and research focus will proceed to a rigorous double-blind peer review process, after which a final decision on acceptance or rejection will be made.

Author Responsibilities
Before submission, authors must:

• Ensure that their manuscript is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
• Obtain permission to publish any copyrighted material, including images, datasets, or third-party content.
• Confirm that all listed authors have significantly contributed to the research and consent to authorship.
• Ensure that research involving human or animal subjects has received ethical approval from an appropriate ethics committee, following the legal and institutional requirements of the study’s country.

Editorial Review and Desk Rejection
The editorial team reserves the right to desk reject manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s quality standards, scope, or ethical guidelines. Authors will be informed of the decision along with reasons for rejection, where applicable.
